We were asked to concept and produce a 2 minute in-flight video that would begin by portraying scenes of a stressful lifestyle the typical business traveller could relate to. Then, after introducing Executive Premiere Suites branding, transition into a more soothing and relaxing presentation that highlighted the benefits of Premiere Executive Suites services across Canada and North America. We were required to concept and produce the commercial all in house.

By using a mixture of time-lapse footage, motion graphics and in-suite shots we created a branded video that helped gain awareness for Executive Premiere Suites on several major airline flights across North America.

Once again, with planning and creativity, we managed to give the client three successful ad spots for the price of the original 2 minute in-flight video.

One of the challenges we had with shooting this TV Commercial for Compatible Agent was that our concept required us to capture it in just one smooth shot. The actor was required to engage the viewer in a conversational manner while walking from the rear entrance of the house, through the garden and onto the street drawing the viewer into the lifestyle, all while maintaining interaction with his family along the way. The shot covered quite a distance across uneven ground so we decided to use a steady cam instead of a dolly cam.

The other challenge was that we had to shoot the commercial in spring-time on the North Shore of Vancouver, which is usually a cloudy or rainy situation. Luckily we had no rain on the day of the shoot but the clouds were certainly there. Knowing that we would need to replace the grey cloud cover with fluffy white clouds in a broken blue sky in post production, we decided to shoot using the Ultra-High Definition RED One digital camera that is revolutionizing the film industry. The RED One camera records at 4k resolution, more than 4000 pixels across, that would give us the detail required to successfully replace and match-move the sky throughout the entire shot.

We also dubbed the entire sound track, including the voice and all foley sound effects during post production.

This production was designed to be a promotional web video for Taglocity Group, a company that specializes in corporate email management. Their objective is to relieve mass cc emails by tagging messages in order to filter out unnecessary emails allowing the user to be in control of their email inbox.

The technical side of what a Taglocity solution achieves is extremely complex to explain in words alone. Our task was to design and produce a motion graphics production that simplified the whole process in a way that was easier for the viewer to understand.

We went with an iconic graphic treatment that stayed within their corporate branding. All the graphic assets we designed were made available to the client for them to further use throughout their website and print media to ensure brand consistency.

This client wanted us to somehow portray Memories Frozen in Time, the illusion or sense of moving around inside a holiday photo. The spot was created from almost 100 high resolution still photos.

For each photo scene we used Photoshop to cut out foreground, mid-ground and background. Once the pieces were cut out we then retouched the background plate to fill in the holes that were left from...

This client wanted us to somehow portray Memories Frozen in Time, the illusion or sense of moving around inside a holiday photo. The spot was created from almost 100 high resolution still photos.

For each photo scene we used Photoshop to cut out foreground, mid-ground and background. Once the pieces were cut out we then retouched the background plate to fill in the holes that were left from cutting away the different perspective plates. We then placed each element into a 3D scene and rebuilt the image leaving distance between each element so when we animated the 3D camera there appeared to be a vanishing point or depth of field. This technique holds up well for slight camera movement and a similar technique is commonly used in motion pictures for digital matte paintings.

Another technique we used for the buildings to appear 3D was Photoshops Vanishing Point tool, this enabled us to literally rebuild the buildings in a 3D environment within After Effects. Again this held up pretty well for minor camera moves but the illusion will fall apart if the camera moves too far in either direction.

Other stock imagery was added to enhance the illusion further, for instance the dove caught in mid flight was not in the original photograph of the dancing couple. Other effects where added to enhance the illusion further, for instance turbulent displacement was used to make the water ripple and rays of light were used on the underwater scenes.

The second part to the project involved a 3D virtual set design that we built, lit and textured in Cinema 4D. We then shot the presenter in front of a green screen and composited her into the 3D set environment. The Photo sequences were then edited and composited into the same scene to give the illusion of a huge virtual TV screen behind the presenter.

Original music was written here at Go2 Productions for the piece to convey a sense of inspiration and well being.

A combination of intense motion graphics and 3D character design was used to bring the spot to life.
