In 2009 we created a 3 minute trade show video for NGRAIN, who deliver interactive 3D software solutions to a host of industries worldwide, including aerospace, defense, energy and technology. NGRAIN asked us to take some of their 3D animations and make them more attention grabbing, while keeping the video brand consistent with their existing materials.
They returned to us later in the year to create a talking heads video that would really stand out from the competitors. We organized shooting teams to capture key people located in multiple locations including Texas, Toronto and Calgary. This video was to be presented at a very hi tech trade show so once again we chose to go with powerful music, dynamic camera moves, key words, powerful statements and testimonials. In addition we increased the level of production to involve more impressive motion graphics and high energy 3D animation that included supersonic jets!
Once we had written the custom music track we storyboarded the elements we had and developed the look and style of the video. The result was a high energy, high impact motion graphics video designed to grab attention and leave a lasting impression. This talking heads video is certainly like no other!

Recon Instruments introduces the first head-mounted display system for goggles.
An integrated display with GPS functionality. Bringing fighter pilot technology to a goggle. Live statistics and GPS right in front of your eyes, measuring speed distance, height and time. This product truly is amazing, snowboarding, skiing and snowmobiling will never be the same.
Recon Instruments wanted us to produce a high impact 3D presentation of their unique technology. We were supplied engineering files of the goggles and hardware to work with.
After texturing the goggles to a photo real level, we began designing the environment we would be showcasing the goggles in the 3D sequences. Lots of compositing was required to add in additional text, motion graphics and snow. We planned and rendered out one main camera move to follow the voice over track, with several additional camera moves that we would be using for the interference and twitch sequences.
We created a high impact motion graphic logo intro and using B roll footage supplied to us we added motion graphics to the jump sequences. Then edited all the parts together with original music tracks, one of which was developed in house which we called Twitchin.
This was a really fun project to work on as the client gave us complete freedom to do what we wanted. The only brief we received was - Just make it look cool.
Sit back, turn up the speakers and enjoy!

For this project we collaborated with Lilydales brand strategists, WOW Branding. The concept for this project was to have two BBQs come to life and start having a conversation in a neighborly over the fence type situation on a bright sunny day. The female BBQ was to appear sleek, trim and healthy reflecting the healthy food she was cooking, The male BBQ was to appear weathered, worn and unhealthy reflecting the fatty meat he always found himself cooking.
The first challenge was to determine whether to scout and shoot location background plates or to go completely 3D. The client had instructed they wanted the commercial to look as real as possible. With this in mind we decided the chance of finding, set dressing and shooting a location that perfectly matched the duplex in the script would be near impossible, one side was to be tidy and well kept, the other side was to be worn and neglected. We came up with the idea of constructing a 1/12th scale miniature of the duplex, with which we could control the level of differences right down to the length and colour of the grass in the gardens. Most importantly we could control the lighting and shoot of the set over the course of a day without worrying about cloud cover, sun position or even rain.
Working closely with the WOW Branding creative team and the modelers at Miniature Effects, we designed every detail of the duplex and the two gardens to an extremely realistic level. We shot all the background plates we required on the first day of shooting, reflection photography and background elements on the second day, such as trees and additional background houses, The live actor and voice over artists were shot and recorded on the third day and finally the two food shots in the spot were prepared and shot on the fourth day of shooting.
As we moved the footage into production we began the modeling and animation and texturing of the BBQs in XSI. The moving shots were motion tracked to allow seamless integration of the 3D Models and all shots were rotoscoped so we could convincingly place the BBQs on either side of the fence in all shots.
The compositing, editing, additional 3D and visual effects took our team just over two weeks to complete. The smoke and steam in the spot was created and filmed by shining a spot light across a black cloth, while pumping steam from a hand held suit steamer into the light, the cinder particles are actually dust particles we sprinkled into the light while as we captured the footage.

We were asked to create an awareness video that highlighted both the structures they build and the aircraft they are built for. As this video would primarily be for trade show use we decided to use a mix of 3D animation and 2D motion graphics for maximum impact.
A total of seven aircraft needed to be modeled and textured by Go 2 Productions and then approved by the clients of Avcorp to ensure accurate representation of the real aircraft.

With units still in the advanced R and D stage and no actual device for us to work with, Tornado gave us a challenge to produce a 2 minute commercial for it's ground breaking self defence system.
Working only with Solid Works 3D engineering files of the product, we decided to keep the whole project in a 3D environment, aiming for a highly stylized and branded TV commercial. Our objective was to show in just a couple of minutes, the versatility and power of their small personal self defence system.
From an opening of darkness and fear we move into a high impact 3D demonstration of the product and close with 3D renditions of where the system can be used and positioned in your car, mobile home, house or even on your person for quick and easy deployment when it's needed the most.
In addition to the TV commercial we were also asked to model a realistic human hand that would be used as part of a trade show display, protruding from the front of the display holding the device itself. Working with our modelling partners Miniature Effects we designed a hand that could hold the device securely and also be flexible enough to allow the device to be removed to change batteries.

It would be wonderful from Day 1, if you could have access to information and guidance that could greatly enhance your ability to manage, care for and protect your pet. Thats Petline.
This client wanted us to create a web video with a 3D animated pet to help guide the viewers through the services offered by Petline. We developed a lead character called Toby, a smart and quick witted cat, with his less smart sidekick Tanner, to help tell the story. The web video comprises of five short 3D animated stories that involve our two characters along with narrated sections offering more information. We were required to make it fun, lighthearted and visually appealing for a wide range of audience, so we decided on basic shading as opposed to fully textured environments, keeping a more cartoony feel.
We also developed several banner videos for their website along with supporting graphic elements that were used in the final website design.
